Thapelo Maseko pops up on the radar of Slavia Prague

Czech giants SK Slavia Prague have reportedly joined the growing list of clubs monitoring Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana winger Thapelo Maseko following his outstanding performances on the international stage.

The South African attacker has caught the attention of the European outfit after playing a key role in Hugo Broos’ squad at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, where he enhanced his reputation with a match-winning contribution against South Korea.

Maseko scored the decisive goal in Bafana Bafana’s 1-0 victory over South Korea, showcasing his pace, attacking intelligence, and composure in front of goal. His impressive display has further increased interest in his services, with clubs now keeping a close eye on the talented winger.

The 23-year-old’s rise has been remarkable, especially after a challenging period at Mamelodi Sundowns where he struggled for consistent playing time due to strong competition within the squad. Seeking more opportunities to develop and regain confidence, Maseko pushed for a move away from the Brazilians and joined Cypriot side AEL Limassol on loan.

The decision proved beneficial, as the former SuperSport United forward rediscovered his form and gained valuable minutes, eventually earning his place back in the national team setup. His performances for both club and country have now placed him firmly on the radar of European clubs.

However, Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to be reluctant to part ways with the player permanently. The reigning South African champions view Maseko as a valuable asset and could consider retaining him as part of their long-term plans.

With interest from SK Slavia Prague emerging, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining Maseko’s future. Sundowns will have to decide whether to cash in on the winger’s growing market value or keep hold of a player who appears to have rediscovered his confidence and form.

A potential move to Europe would represent another significant step in Maseko’s career, while Sundowns will be eager to protect one of South Africa’s brightest attacking talents.
