Lazio consider Yanis Begraoui option as Boulaye Dia nears Rennes move

Lazio are preparing for the possible departure of Boulaye Dia, with Yanis Begraoui among the attacking players being considered as the Senegal international edges closer to a move to Stade Rennais.

Dia is understood to have reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 club and could soon leave the Italian capital to return to France. Although the transfer has not yet been completed, the prospect of his exit has prompted Lazio to examine potential replacements.

Begraoui remains on the club’s shortlist, according to Foot Mercato, with his qualities understood to have attracted the interest of Lazio’s directors. Africafoot previously revealed exclusively that the Morocco forward was being considered by the Italian side as a possible addition to their forward line.

The situation surrounding Begraoui is closely linked to Dia’s future, however. Lazio are expected to finalise the Senegal striker’s departure before progressing decisively with talks over a possible successor.

Begraoui is under contract with Estoril until June 2028 and is currently valued at 12m euros by Transfermarkt. Lazio, meanwhile, are reportedly seeking about 15m euros before agreeing to sell Dia. Those figures could have a direct influence on the club’s next moves in the transfer market.

The Italian club will soon turn their attention to their second match of the season, when they face Genoa in the Italian championship. The match is scheduled to take place as Lazio continue to assess the composition of their attacking department.

Odds published for the fixture list Lazio at 3.60 to win, with a draw priced at 2.90 and a Genoa victory at 2.20. The betting figures reflect Genoa as the shorter-priced side, while Lazio’s possible reshaping of their forward options remains a key issue away from the pitch.

For now, the potential transfer of Dia is the factor that could unlock the rest of Lazio’s planning. Should the move to Stade Rennais go through, the club would then be in a stronger position to determine whether Begraoui is the player they want to pursue as part of the transition.

Begraoui’s long-term contract with Estoril means any negotiations would be shaped by the Portuguese club’s position, while Lazio’s valuation of Dia could help determine how much money is available for a replacement. The next stage of the process is therefore expected to depend first on the Senegal striker’s departure.
