Celtic offer Kelechi Iheanacho new deal

Celtic have moved to keep Kelechi Iheanacho in Glasgow after submitting an offer to extend his stay, with manager Martin O’Neill confirming the club’s intent.

The Nigerian striker, who joined last September, has given Celtic useful depth and timely goals, making him a valued part of the squad.

Iheanacho arrived on a one-year deal after leaving Sevilla as a free agent, reuniting him with Brendan Rodgers after their time together at Leicester City. He was brought in to strengthen Celtic’s attacking options behind Kyogo Furuhashi, but he quickly made an impact of his own.

His debut against Kilmarnock was memorable, as he came off the bench and scored a stoppage-time penalty to seal a 2-1 win. A week later, he added his first assist in a 4-0 League Cup victory over Partick Thistle, helping Celtic advance to the semi-finals.

Across the 2025/26 season, Iheanacho made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying one assist. Celtic’s offer shows they believe he can continue to deliver, and the next move now rests with the player.
