Pyramids FC reportedly offer Rulani Mokwena $120,000 monthly deal ahead of Al Ittihad exit
South African coach Rulani Mokwena is reportedly on the verge of joining Egyptian giants Pyramids FC after receiving a lucrative contract proposal worth around $120,000 per month for himself and his technical team.
Mokwena is expected to part ways with Libyan side Al Ittihad, with an official announcement from the club believed to be imminent.
The 39-year-old tactician has been in charge of the Libyan outfit since February 2026 after leaving Algerian club MC Alger, where he guided the team to victory in the Algerian Cup.
However, Mokwena’s time at Al Ittihad ended without major silverware, as the club missed out on both the Libyan Premier League title and the Libyan Cup following his arrival.
The results reportedly drew criticism from some sections of the club’s supporters.
Reports that emerged over the weekend indicated that Mokwena had decided to resign from his position, a development that came as Al Ittihad began preparations for the new season.
Attention has since turned to his next move, with Egyptian side Pyramids FC emerging as the leading destination for the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach.
According to Egyptian publication El Balad, Pyramids have tabled a one-year contract offer for Mokwena and his coaching staff, with a combined monthly salary package of approximately $120,000.
The deal is also said to include performance-based bonuses and an option for renewal by mutual agreement.
The reported agreement contains significant financial incentives should Mokwena lead Pyramids to success in domestic competition, particularly winning the Egyptian Premier League, as well as continental glory in the CAF Champions League.
Despite the size of the reported offer, the package would still represent a reduction compared to the salary previously paid by Pyramids to former Croatian head coach Krunoslav Jurčić.
Mokwena’s potential move would mark another major step in his coaching career, as he looks set to take charge of one of Africa’s most ambitious clubs.
