Morocco youngster Abdellah Ouazzane eyes senior call-up after impressing Ajax

Morocco youngster Abdellah Ouazzane says he is determined to earn a place in the senior national team after catching the attention of head coach Mohamed Ouahbi.

The 17-year-old Ajax midfielder was watched by Ouahbi during the Dutch club’s European match against Sion, where Ouazzane provided two assists in a 5-3 victory.

Ouahbi’s presence has further encouraged the teenager, who has represented Morocco at youth level since the Under-15 team and sees a senior call-up as the next stage of his international career.

Ouazzane wants to take next step

Ouazzane said representing Morocco’s senior side remains a major ambition and believes he is getting closer to achieving it.

“I started with the Morocco U-15 national team, and ultimately, you aspire to reach the senior national team. I think this step is getting closer and closer,” Ouazzane said.

Asked whether he could receive a senior call-up soon, the Ajax youngster remained hopeful while insisting that he will continue working hard.

“I hope so. I will wait and see what happens. I will continue giving my best, and who knows, maybe I will find myself on the squad list,” he added.

Ouahbi monitoring Ajax teenager

The Morocco coach’s decision to attend the Ajax fixture underlines the growing attention surrounding Ouazzane’s development.

The midfielder has enjoyed an encouraging period with Ajax and is beginning to make a stronger impression at club level.
