Benin midfielder Matteo Ahlinvi joins Farul Constanța on two-year contract
Farul Constanța have officially completed the signing of Benin international midfielder Matteo Ahlinvi, with the player joining the Romanian club on a two-year contract ahead of the new Superliga season.
The club announced the arrival of Ahlinvi on Wednesday as they continue preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The midfielder becomes the latest addition to a squad looking to strengthen its options after Farul Constanța were crowned Romanian champions in 2023.
The 27-year-old, who operates mainly as a central midfielder, arrives with considerable experience from several European leagues.
Having developed his football career in France, Ahlinvi has featured in both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, representing Dijon and Guingamp during his time in French football.
His career has also taken him beyond France, with spells at Serbian side Čukarički, Swedish club Västerås SK and, most recently, Russian team Arsenal Tula.
Those experiences have helped him develop a strong understanding of different styles of European football.
Ahlinvi has been part of the Benin national team since 2020 and has earned more than 25 international appearances.
His arrival at Farul Constanța is expected to add technical ability, creativity and experience to the midfield department.
The Benin international is known for his passing quality, vision and ability to recover possession, qualities that could prove valuable for new coach Ioan Ovidiu Sabău as he prepares the team for the 2026/27 Superliga campaign.
Farul Constanța believe Ahlinvi’s versatility will provide additional options in midfield as they look to compete in the new season.
His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an important addition to the squad.
The midfielder’s signing comes as Farul continue their preparations for the start of the championship, which is scheduled to begin on July 19 with a match against Universitatea Cluj.
With Ahlinvi now added to their squad, Farul Constanța have strengthened their midfield ahead of another challenging Superliga campaign.
