Sesane swaps Orlando Pirates for Siwelele FC in Premiership move

South African centre-back Thabiso Sesane has completed a permanent move from Orlando Pirates to Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership. The 26-year-old defender joins the South African top-flight side on a standard transfer, with the fee undisclosed, and arrives with a current market value of 250,000.

Sesane, a right-footed central defender standing at 1.86m, leaves Pirates after progressing from their reserve ranks into the first team. He was promoted from Orlando Pirates Reserves to the senior side in December 2020 and has remained on the clubs books for more than five years, including loan spells to build first-team experience.

The move keeps Sesane in the Betway Premiership, with both Orlando Pirates and Siwelele FC competing in South Africas top division. It offers Siwelele FC an experienced domestic defender entering his prime years, with a profile shaped entirely within South African football.

Sesanes market value has fluctuated in recent seasons, rising from 25,000 in early 2021 to a peak of 500,000 in May 2025 during his time with Pirates before settling at 250,000 in June 2026. That trajectory reflects his development from a young prospect into a more established Premiership player.

Before securing a regular place in the Pirates squad, Sesane spent time on loan at Jomo Cosmos and All Stars FC, both in South Africa, between 2021 and 2023. Those spells followed his initial step up from the Pirates reserve side and provided early senior experience ahead of his return to the Soweto club.

Born on 30 May 2000, Sesane now begins a new chapter with Siwelele FC as a Betway Premiership defender with top-flight and loan experience in South Africa.
