Vozinha: Free-agent Cape Verde goalkeeper linked with surprise move to Brazils Avai FC
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently a free agent after leaving Portuguese side GD Chaves, is being linked with a move to Brazilian Serie B club Avai FC.
The 40-year-old, whose full profile lists him as 1.89m tall and right-footed, is without a club after his contract with Chaves ended on 1 July 2026, placing him on the market as a free agent. Transfermarkt puts his current market value at 50,000, and the reported probability of a deal with Avai is listed only as ?, underlining that talks remain at a speculative stage.
Vozinha, born in Mindelo on 3 June 1986, has spent the past decade moving across several leagues. After early spells in Cape Verde with Batuque FC and CS Mindelense, he played in Angola for Progresso do Sambizanga, then moved to Moldovas FC Zimbru Chisinau in 2015. That was followed by a switch to Portugal with Gil Vicente in 2016 and a lengthy stint at AEL Limassol in Cyprus from 2017 to 2022.
He then joined AS Trencin in Slovakia in July 2022 before returning to Portugal with Chaves in July 2024. Across that period his market value peaked at 600,000 during his time at AEL Limassol in 2018, gradually declining to 50,000 by June 2026, reflecting both age and league level.
The latest rumour would mark his first venture into Brazilian football, with Avai competing in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B. With no contract currently registered and his national-team status listed as without club, any move would be a straightforward free transfer rather than a deal involving a fee.
If the switch to Florianopolis materialises, it would add another country to Vozinhas varied career and offer a late-stage test in one of South Americas most competitive second tiers.
