Yannick Semedo: Saudi First Division side Al-Jabalain linked with free-agent midfielder

Cape Verde and Portugal central midfielder Yannick Semedo, currently a free agent after leaving SC Farense, is being linked with a move to Saudi First Division League club Al-Jabalain.

Semedo, 30, officially became unattached on 1 July 2026 following the expiry of his deal at Farense and is listed Without Club on Transfermarkt. The Saudi side are understood to be exploring a potential free transfer, with the probability of the move still marked as ? and no formal agreement reported at this stage.

The Praia-born midfielder, who stands at 1.76m and plays predominantly as a right-footed central midfielder, carries a current market value of 250,000. That valuation has dipped from a peak of 400,000 during his spell at FC Vizela but remains significant for clubs operating outside Europes top-five leagues, particularly with no transfer fee required.

Semedos most recent campaign came in Portugal with Farense, whom he joined from CD Santa Clara in July 2025 after a loan stint at Vizela in the 2024-25 season. Before reaching the Primeira Liga and second tier, he built his career entirely in Portuguese football, featuring for Vilaverdense, Salgueiros, Beira-Mar, Uniao Madeira, Maritimo and Maritimo B, as well as earlier spells at GD Sao Roque (Azores).

The dual national has seen his value fluctuate sharply in recent years: from 150,000 at Vilaverdense in September 2023, to 275,000 three months later, then 250,000 at Santa Clara in June 2024, and up to 400,000 with Vizela by December 2024 and June 2025, before reducing to 300,000 and then 250,000 at Farense by June 2026.

No specific recent match details, such as opponents, dates or scorelines, are available in the current data, but Semedos long domestic record in Portugal and immediate free-agent status make a move to Al-Jabalain a potentially pivotal step as he weighs the next phase of his career in the Middle East.
