Darlin Yongwa: Trabzonspor linked with free-agent Cameroon left-back

Cameroon left-back Darlin Yongwa, currently a free agent after leaving French side FC Lorient, is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor.

The 25-year-old, born in Douala and standing at 1.77m, officially became Without Club on 1 July 2026 following the expiry of his deal at Lorient, opening the door to a potential free transfer. Transfermarkt lists his current market value at 5.00m, underlining the scale of the opportunity for any side able to secure his signature without a fee.

Yongwa, a left-footed defender whose main position is left-back, has spent his entire professional career in France since leaving Brasseries du Cameroun for Chamois Niortais B team in early 2019. He progressed to Chamois Niortais first team later that year before earning a move to Lorient in July 2022.

During his time in Ligue 1 with Lorient, Yongwa developed a reputation as an energetic full-back capable of covering the flank and contributing in both phases of play. His performances helped drive a steady rise in his valuation, which climbed from 1m shortly after his move to Lorient to a peak of 6m in March 2026 before settling at 5m by June, according to the same source.

The latest rumour, dated 4 July 2026, lists the probability of the move as ? and there is no indication yet of how advanced any talks might be between Yongwas camp and Trabzonspor.

Having already adapted successfully to European football in Ligue 2 and Ligue 1, a switch to the Super Lig would mark the next step in Yongwas career and offer him a new stage to reinforce his reputation as a reliable top-flight full-back if the move materialises.
