Akpe Victory: Trabzonspor eye move for Nigeria centre-back from Zalaegerszeg

Nigeria defender Akpe Victory is being linked with a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor from Hungarian club Zalaegerszeg, with the 19-year-old centre-back reportedly attracting interest despite uncertainty over his contract status.

The 1.95m centre-back, who wears number 55 for Zalaegerszeg in Hungary’s NB I, is currently valued at €2.00m on Transfermarkt, a figure seen as modest for a player regarded as a physically imposing, long-term project. Transfer data lists no fixed contract expiry date, raising the prospect that he could become a free agent in the near future, which would sharpen Trabzonspor’s interest.

The rumoured switch, flagged on 24 June 2026 with the probability of the deal still marked as “?”, would see Victory move from the Hungarian top flight to the Süper Lig, a step up in visibility and intensity. Born in Abuja on 19 July 2006, the Nigerian centre-back has developed his game in Europe with Zalaegerszegi TE FC, operating primarily in the heart of defence.

Recent performances in NB I have underlined why Turkish scouts are monitoring him. In Zalaegerszeg’s most recent league outing – a 1-1 home draw against Paks on 18 June 2026 – Victory completed the full 90 minutes, won the majority of his aerial duels and helped limit clear chances from open play, contributing to a disciplined defensive display despite the shared points.

Victory has so far represented only Zalaegerszeg at senior club level, but his height, recovery pace and profile as a modern central defender have already pushed his valuation into seven figures. With his contractual situation not clearly defined and no official announcement from either club, the move remains at the rumour stage, yet a transfer to Trabzonspor could prove a pivotal moment, offering a larger stage on which to shape his reputation and accelerate his development if it materialises.
