World Cup 2026: Know the Boston Stadium where England will play Ghana

Boston Stadium is set to capture the attention of global football fans as England prepares to battle Ghana in a highly anticipated Group L fixture.

Scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM local time (8:00 PM GMT), this match marks the second group-stage appearance for both teams in the tournament.

Both nations arrive with maximum confidence after securing vital victories in their respective opening games.

The Thomas Tuchel-led Three Lions opened their campaign with a thrilling 4–2 triumph over Croatia in Dallas, driven by an impressive brace from captain Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, Carlos Queiroz’s disciplined Ghana squad ground out a vital 1–0 win against Panama at Toronto’s BMO Field. With top spot in Group L on the line, this transatlantic showdown carries immense sporting importance.

Inside the World Cup Venue

Known commercially as Gillette Stadium, the state-of-the-art facility located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, will operate under its official tournament moniker, Boston Stadium, throughout the competition.

Situated roughly 35 kilometres southwest of downtown Boston, the venue boasts a capacity exceeding 65,000 spectators. It serves as the historic home turf for the New England Patriots (NFL) and the New England Revolution (MLS).

The arena is playing a central role in the expanded 48-team tournament, serving as the host site for seven high-profile matches.

Prior to this fixture, the stadium hosted three intense group encounters: Scotland’s 1–0 win over Haiti, Norway’s 4–1 victory over Iraq, and Morocco’s narrow 1–0 victory against Scotland.

Following the England versus Ghana match, the venue will host a Group I matchup between Norway and France on June 26, followed by a Round of 32 knockout match on June 29, and a marquee Quarter-final on July 9.

Matchday Guide for Fans

Navigating to Foxborough on matchday requires careful coordination for the thousands of fans traveling from the city center.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is running specialized event Commuter Rail trains directly from Boston’s South Station to Foxboro Station to ensure streamlined transit.

Fans choosing to drive from downtown can utilize Route 1, though heavy traffic congestion is expected near the arena leading up to the 4:00 PM kick-off.

For supporters who do not hold tickets to the stadium, the city is hosting the official FIFA Fan Festival Boston at City Hall Plaza.

This public fan zone features free admission, family-friendly interactive activities, and massive screens broadcasting the match live, uniting local and international fans in the heart of New England.
