World Cup 2026: Kansas City unveils transport plan for Algeria vs Argentina clash

Fans travelling to Kansas City for the 2026 World Cup match between Algeria and Argentina will be offered a structured transport system, as local organisers prepare for large crowds and increased mobility demands around Arrowhead Stadium.

The fixture, scheduled for 16 June 2026 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, is expected to attract significant international attention, including a strong contingent of Algerian supporters.

With that in mind, authorities in Kansas City have unveiled a transport plan known as ConnectKC26 to manage movement between key locations in the city.

On arrival at Kansas City International Airport, supporters will have access to a free shuttle service linking the terminals to the ConnectKC26 Bus Mall, located at the intersection of 27th Street and Main Street.

This transport hub sits within walking distance of the FIFA Fan Festival site, making it a central point for travelling fans.

The airport shuttle will operate daily from 06:00 to 22:00, although passengers are required to hold a ConnectKC26 pass to use the service. On match days, additional transport will be made available to Arrowhead Stadium, with a dedicated shuttle priced at $15 for a return journey for ticket holders.

These stadium-bound services will depart from both the Fan Festival area and four designated park-and-ride locations across the city. Operations will begin three hours before kick-off and continue until two hours after the final whistle, ensuring extended coverage for arrivals and departures.

For wider travel across the metropolitan area, a Region Direct pass has been introduced with three pricing options: $5 for a single day, $25 for seven days, and $50 for the full duration of the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 13 July.

Bus services will operate from 10:00 to 00:00 on weekdays, extending to 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays to accommodate higher demand.

Beyond transport arrangements, supporters travelling from Algeria also face visa considerations. The US Embassy in Algiers has confirmed an increase in consular capacity to handle World Cup-related applications, although applicants continue to report extended processing times.

Meanwhile, preparations among Algerian supporters are also taking shape locally and within the diaspora, with efforts underway to ensure strong representation inside stadiums during the tournament.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has also requested that Air Algérie charter a 300-seat aircraft to transport an official delegation, including players, technical staff and representatives from regional football leagues.

As anticipation builds ahead of the high-profile clash with Argentina, logistical planning is becoming a key focus alongside sporting preparations, with organisers aiming to streamline access for thousands of travelling supporters.
