Ivorian winger Simon Adingra is facing an important decision over his future this summer after rediscovering his form during an impressive loan spell with AS Monaco.

After struggling to make a major impact during the first part of the season at Sunderland AFC, the Ivory Coast international joined Monaco on loan for the second half of the campaign in an attempt to revive his career.

Since arriving in Ligue 1, the winger has managed to establish himself as one of the club’s regular starters with a series of consistent performances.

Adingra featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches and started 10 of them, accumulating 862 minutes on the pitch. His contribution in the final third also strengthened his standing within the squad, with the winger scoring three goals and providing two assists during his time in the Principality.

According to L’Équipe, Monaco’s management have been impressed by the impact of the former Brighton player and are now considering the possibility of keeping him beyond the current campaign.

However, securing a permanent transfer may prove difficult for the French club. Monaco already paid one million euros for the loan arrangement, while the agreement reportedly includes a purchase option worth 17 million euros.

The financial demands of such a deal could become problematic given the club’s current economic situation.

As a result, Monaco may instead explore the possibility of extending Adingra’s loan for another season rather than committing to a permanent move immediately.

That option could become particularly important if Monaco qualify for the UEFA Conference League play-offs, with the club expected to strengthen its squad ahead of a potentially demanding campaign in Europe.

The final decision may also depend heavily on Sunderland’s plans for the player. Adingra remains under contract with the English side until June 2030, placing the Black Cats in a strong negotiating position ahead of the summer transfer window.

Following the winger’s encouraging displays in France, Sunderland could either reintegrate him into their plans for next season or seek to capitalise financially on his rising value through a transfer.

According to Transfermarkt, the Ivorian international is currently valued at 25 million euros.

Reports also indicate that Adingra earns an annual salary of around 4.2 million euros, further highlighting the scale of any potential agreement Monaco may need to reach if they decide to pursue a permanent deal.
