Ibrahima Konate labels Old Trafford defeat a big disappointment
Ibrahima Konate did not hold back in his assessment of Liverpool’s painful 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, acknowledging the Reds squandered a crucial chance in the Premier League clash.
Manchester United raced into a commanding 2-0 lead within the opening 15 minutes through Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. Liverpool fought back admirably in the second half with goals from Szoboszlai and Gakpo, the latter notching his 50th for the club, before Kobbie Mainoo’s 77th-minute strike sealed victory for United.
“It’s a big disappointment because I think we concede two goals that we must not concede when we start the game,” Konate told Liverpool’s official website. “In the first half we lost many challenges on the pitch. When it was 50-50, most of them Manchester won them on the pitch,” he added.
With three games remaining against Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brentford, Liverpool must regroup quickly to secure Champions League qualification.
Konate has made 33 appearances and scored one goal in the Premier League this season.
