Fadlu Davids questions refereeing decisions after Raja Casablanca’s defeat to AS FAR
Raja Casablanca head coach Fadlu Davids has voiced strong concerns over refereeing decisions following his side’s 2-1 defeat to AS FAR Rabat in the Moroccan Botola Pro.
The loss dealt a significant blow to Raja’s title ambitions, leaving them four points behind league leaders Maghreb Fez as the season race intensifies.
AS FAR, who recently reached the CAF Champions League final, secured victory through goals from Abdelfettah Hadraf and Mohamed Hrimat. The result marked their first win in three league matches after consecutive draws.
However, the game was overshadowed by controversy. According to Moroccan outlet LeSiteInfo, several refereeing decisions drew heavy criticism, including the award of AS FAR’s opening goal.
Raja players protested that the goal was offside, although it was ultimately validated by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Davids also expressed frustration over a second-half incident in which he believes his team were denied a legitimate goal.
“We made mistakes, but the referee denied us a legitimate goal, and that is very unfortunate,” he said, as quoted by LeSiteInfo.
Tensions were further heightened by disturbances in the stands, with reports of unrest involving supporters from both clubs, some of whom also intruded into the media section of the stadium.
Raja will now look to recover quickly as they prepare for their next league fixture against Difaa El Jadidi on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Raja and AS FAR have been slapped with stadium bans over violence.
