FECOFA Electoral Commission releases provisional candidates list ahead of key vote
The Electoral Commission of the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA) has officially published the provisional list of candidates for its upcoming Executive Committee elections, marking a significant step toward a crucial decision-making process in Congolese football.
In a document issued in Kinshasa on May 1, 2026, the commission confirmed that several candidate lists have been deemed provisionally admissible, while others were rejected after failing to meet statutory requirements.
After reviewing submissions, the commission approved the candidacies led by Mwehu Beya Kofela Bosco Michel, Masamba Malunga Jean-Didier, and Mosengo Omba Véron. These candidates successfully fulfilled eligibility criteria, including documentation and endorsement requirements.
However, some prominent hopefuls, including Mayaka Bolotosako Jean Max, and Nonda Shabani Christophe, saw their bids declared provisionally inadmissible due to incomplete documentation or failure to meet electoral guidelines.
The commission emphasized that candidates have a 10-day window to appeal the decisions, ensuring fairness and transparency in the process.
With tensions rising and stakes high, Congolese football stakeholders now await the final list, which will shape the leadership tasked with guiding the sport’s future in the country.
