Azzedine Ounahi on the move

Moroccan forward Azzedine Ounahi has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football, with clubs from both the Premier League and La Liga battling for his signature following a standout season with Girona FC.

Since arriving from Olympique de Marseille in the summer of 2025 for just €6 million, Ounahi has transformed into a key figure in Girona’s midfield.

The 26-year-old has established himself as the team’s creative engine, combining composure on the ball with a passing accuracy exceeding 85 percent and an ability to unlock tight defensive setups.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. Interest is rapidly building, particularly from England, where Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion are closely tracking his situation. Villa boss Unai Emery is reportedly keen on adding Ounahi to a midfield that already includes Youri Tielemans and John McGinn, while Brighton view him as a solution to their creative shortcomings.

Back in Spain, competition is just as fierce. Atlético Madrid are monitoring the Moroccan international closely, with Diego Simeone said to admire his blend of energy and technical quality. Villarreal CF have also shown concrete interest, though their initial €15 million approach was swiftly rejected by Girona.

Despite growing interest, Girona remain in a strong negotiating position. The club considers Ounahi untouchable and a central figure in their long-term project, with his contract running until 2030. However, the prospect of UEFA Champions League football could influence the player’s future if a compelling offer arrives.

Currently valued between €20 million and €25 million, Ounahi represents a potential windfall for Girona, who could more than triple their initial investment. With financial powerhouses from England in the race, the battle for his signature looks set to intensify in the months ahead.
