Mamelodi Sundowns seek approval to host CAF Champions League final first leg on May 17

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have formally submitted a request to host the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie against AS FAR on May 17, with a proposed kickoff time of 13:00 GMT (15:00 SA time).

The request has been forwarded to the Confederation of African Football’s Club Competitions Committee, which is expected to make a final determination in due course.

Should the proposal be approved, Sundowns would gain a scheduling advantage as they prepare for a crucial encounter against the Moroccan side, with both clubs aiming to secure a strong position ahead of the return leg.
