CAF mourns the passing of former Nigeria striker Michael Eneramo
The Confederation of African Football has expressed profound grief following the death of former Nigerian international Michael Eneramo, with President Dr Patrice Motsepe leading tributes to the departed footballer.
Dr Motsepe, representing CAF and its 54 member associations, extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation and its President Ibrahim Musa Gusau. The sympathies also reached Eneramo’s family and the entire Nigerian population during this difficult period.
Throughout his career, Eneramo showcased his talents across multiple continents and established himself as a respected striker. He featured prominently for Lobi Stars in his home country before earning moves abroad to continue his professional journey. His time with Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest African club level. The forward also experienced European football with Turkish outfit Besiktas, further expanding his international career.
The CAF statement concluded with prayers for the deceased footballer, expressing hopes that his soul would rest in peace. The football community continues to remember Eneramo’s contributions to the sport across Nigeria and beyond.
