FIFA imposes registration ban on Al Nasr Benghazi over payment dispute
Libyan side Al Nasr Benghazi have been handed a registration ban by FIFA, preventing the Libyan club from registering new players until an outstanding financial obligation is settled in full.
The sanction arises from a contractual dispute involving former coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi, with FIFA ruling that the club failed to complete agreed payments owed to him.
The governing body has therefore imposed disciplinary measures requiring Al Nasr to clear the debt before any transfer activity can resume.
The decision means Al Nasr Benghazi are now barred from signing or registering new players in both domestic and international competitions, a restriction that could significantly affect their squad planning ahead of upcoming fixtures and transfer windows.
Such registration bans are typically lifted only once full financial compliance is confirmed, placing immediate pressure on the club’s administration to resolve the matter swiftly in order to avoid sporting disruption.
The development adds to ongoing concerns about financial disputes in club football, where unpaid salaries and contractual disagreements continue to trigger sanctions from FIFA’s regulatory framework.
