Serhou Guirassy doubtful for Dortmund trip to Freiburg
Borussia Dortmund are sweating over the fitness of star striker Serhou Guirassy ahead of their Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg.
According to Sky, the forward suffered a concussion during the 2–1 away defeat to TSG Hoffenheim, putting his involvement this weekend in serious doubt.
The incident occurred in the 84th minute, when Guirassy was caught by a challenge from Ozan Kabak in his own penalty area, just moments before he grabbed Dortmund’s temporary equaliser. Since then, he has missed both last weekend’s session and Tuesday’s full team training, a worrying sign given the strict protocols around head injuries.
A final decision on whether he can feature against Freiburg on Sunday evening will only be made later in the week after further medical checks. If Guirassy is not cleared to play, Fabio Silva is expected to be the most likely replacement up front, having already started the game in Hoffenheim, even if he struggled to make a decisive impact. For Dortmund, losing their top scorer for such an important fixture would be a major blow at a crucial stage of the season.
