A serious off-field setback has overshadowed the early career of Yoram Zague after the 19-year-old defender was sentenced to 20 days in prison following a reckless driving conviction in Denmark.

The former Paris Saint-Germain loanee, who had been representing FC Copenhagen, was found guilty of driving 104 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Sjaellandsbroen in Copenhagen in December 2025.

The court also imposed an unconditional suspension of his driving licence for three years, alongside a warning that he could face expulsion from Denmark.

The ruling marks a significant disciplinary moment for the young defender, who had been seen as a promising defensive option during his spell in the Danish capital. His loan deal in Copenhagen was cut short on 31 January 2026, shortly after the incident came to light, bringing an abrupt end to his stay in Scandinavia.

Before his departure, Zague had made 15 appearances for the club and contributed two goals, showing flashes of development that had initially justified his temporary move. However, the legal case ultimately overshadowed his progress on the pitch.

Following the verdict, Zague left the courtroom without making any public statement, declining to comment on the outcome of the proceedings. His silence underlined the seriousness of the situation as attention now shifts to the consequences for his playing career.

He is currently on loan at Belgian side KAS Eupen, where he is expected to continue his development away from the controversy.

The case has drawn comparisons to a similar incident involving former FC Copenhagen player Rodrigo Huecas, who last year received a 20-day unconditional sentence for reckless driving, later served under electronic monitoring.

The recurrence of such cases has placed added scrutiny on player conduct within the Danish club’s recent history.
