Liam Rosenior has declared he still enjoys unwavering support from Chelsea’s ownership, even as the club’s alarming dip in form threatens to derail their season objectives.

The Chelsea head coach is under mounting pressure following a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, a narrow 1-0 loss at home to Manchester United. That result leaves the West London side sixth on 48 points with just five games remaining, and their grip on a Champions League place increasingly fragile as rivals close the gap.

Chelsea’s downturn has been particularly stark in attack. The team have failed to find the net in each of those four defeats, equalling a barren run not seen since 1912. The lack of cutting edge has amplified scrutiny on Rosenior, who only took charge in January following the exit of Enzo Maresca.

Yet, despite the growing tension, Rosenior struck a defiant tone when addressing his standing with the club’s hierarchy.

“100%,” he told reporters. “They have been supportive of me, and our daily conversations have been supportive.

“We know we want to win games of football now, but that doesn’t go against the fact that we want success and consistent success in the long term.”

Appointed on a long-term deal running until 2032, the 41-year-old has become the fourth permanent manager installed since the takeover led by Todd Boehly in 2022. While the club’s leadership appears committed to stability, results on the pitch remain the immediate concern.

Rosenior did not shy away from accountability as he assessed Chelsea’s recent struggles.

“We have to win,” Rosenior said. “That is what this club demands, and rightfully so, and that is what the fans expect. It is about winning football – that is what football is about.

“You can’t speak about the long term if you aren’t doing the job in the short term. Being really respectfully honest, we haven’t done well in recent games, and that is on my shoulders as the head coach of the team.”

Attention now turns to a crucial away fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, where Chelsea will attempt to halt their slide. Team selection concerns persist, with Estevao ruled out and João Pedro facing a late fitness test.
