Mohamed Aboutrika backs Mohamed Salah’s legacy
Egyptian legend Mohamed Aboutrika has offered strong support for Mohamed Salah as the Liverpool star approaches the end of his Premier League journey and weighs up his next move.
Speaking in the studio after Liverpool’s 4-0 FA Cup loss to Manchester City, Aboutrika revealed he spoke directly with Salah during his recent dispute with coach Arne Slot.
“I spoke with Salah during his problem with Slot, and I gave him advice at the time about his future, and he is capable of taking the right step with his agent,” Aboutrika explained, confident that his compatriot will choose wisely. He then underlined just how much Salah and Pep Guardiola have meant to English football, saying the Premier League “will become like the Thai league” once both leave.
Aboutrika highlighted Guardiola’s glowing words about Salah as proof of the Egyptian’s stature. “When a coach of Guardiola’s stature comes out and says about Salah that he is a great player, a legend of the Premier League, and an example of consistency and professionalism, then Salah does not need a certificate from Arne Slott, or from anyone else,” he insisted.
Salah has already confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, closing a historic spell that reshaped both the club and the league.
