Burkina Faso international Georgi Minoungou has outlined his ambitions after completing a swift move from Seattle Sounders to Colorado Rapids, describing the transfer as a key step in his development.

The 23-year-old winger made the decision during the recent international break, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half-year spell in the northwestern United States.

Despite the speed of the move, Minoungou has remained composed, embracing what he views as a fresh opportunity to progress his career.

Speaking to Africafoot, he made clear his immediate focus following the switch.
“This is another opportunity for my development.

The Colorado Rapids have a solid project, and I’m ready to fully commit myself alongside my new teammates. My immediate goal is to earn playing time and contribute to the team’s success.”

Minoungou departs Seattle Sounders after making 53 appearances, a period in which he gained valuable experience and established himself as a consistent presence on the pitch.

His performances in Major League Soccer did not go unnoticed, attracting interest from clubs beyond the United States.

Among those linked with the Burkina Faso international was Swedish side Hammarby, who recently showed strong interest in securing his services.

However, the move to Colorado Rapids now provides him with a new platform to continue his development within the North American league.

While settling into his new environment, the winger has not lost sight of his longer-term ambitions.“My goal is to play as much as possible, improve, and help the team.

This is a new opportunity, and I hope everything goes well and that I can achieve my goals. In the long term, my ambitions have always been the same: to play in Europe.”

Minoungou has signed a contract with Colorado Rapids that runs until 31 December 2028, with the option of an additional year.

At 23, he now enters a crucial phase of his career, balancing immediate contributions with his long-standing dream of eventually making the move to European football.
