FIFA launches 2026 World Cup album with debut single “lighter”
Global football governing body FIFA has unveiled the official music album for the 2026 World Cup, introducing fans to its first single, “Lighter.”
The track brings together Jelly Roll and Carin León, with production handled by CirKUT. Blending elements of pop, country, and regional Mexican music, the song reflects the cultural diversity of North America, where the tournament will be staged across Canada, United States, and Mexico.
Rather than serving as just a musical accompaniment, the album has been positioned as an extension of the World Cup experience, aiming to capture the unity, passion, and emotional depth that define the global spectacle.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino underscored the importance of music in expressing the spirit of the game, describing “Lighter” as the opening chapter in a broader musical journey connected to the tournament.
Both artists also spoke about the significance of the project. Jelly Roll pointed to the opportunity to reach a wider global audience, while Carin León highlighted the pride of representing the host nations through music.
The release aligns with the expanded format of the 2026 tournament, which will feature 48 teams for the first time. The album is expected to mirror that scale, bringing together a diverse range of sounds and international talent.
Set to be the biggest edition yet, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark a new era for the competition. With three host nations, it will also be the first World Cup staged across multiple countries on such a scale, reinforcing its identity as a truly global event.
