Al Ahly complete seventh summer move with Petrojet defender Tawfik Mohamed

Al Ahly have signed Petrojet left-back Tawfik Mohamed on a five-year contract, completing their seventh addition of the summer transfer window.

The Egyptian club announced the agreement on Saturday evening through its official social media accounts, confirming that Mohamed had joined from Petrojet on a deal running for five seasons.

“Al Ahly announce the signing of Tawfik Mohamed, Petrojet’s left-back, for five seasons,” the club said in its statement.

The transfer provides Al Ahly with cover at left-back following the serious injury suffered by Morocco international Youssef Belammari. Belammari has sustained a torn cruciate ligament in his knee and is expected to be absent for a lengthy period.

Mohamed’s arrival therefore gives Al Ahly another option in the position as the club prepares for the season ahead. The move also represents the latest piece of business in an active summer recruitment campaign by the Egyptian giants.

The club added that its head of contracts, Essam Sirag El-Din, had completed all the financial and administrative procedures required to finalise the transfer. Those arrangements were carried out in full coordination with football director Wael Gomaa.

Mohamed becomes the seventh player to join Al Ahly during the current summer window. His signing follows the arrivals of Moncef Bekrar, Sofiane Benjedid, Ali Mahmoud, Aqtai Abdullah and Mahmoud Salah.

The club have also brought back their former player Akram Tawfik, who is included among the seven changes made to the squad this summer.

The signing comes as Al Ahly manage the defensive absence created by Belammari’s knee injury. The Morocco left-back’s cruciate ligament tear will keep him out for an extended period, increasing the importance of adding a player capable of operating in the same position.

Mohamed arrives from Petrojet after Al Ahly concluded the financial and administrative aspects of the agreement. The contract length underlines the club’s commitment to the new left-back, who has now become part of a significantly reshaped squad.

With the addition of the Petrojet defender, Al Ahly have continued their summer recruitment while addressing the immediate need created by Belammari’s injury. The club’s announcement confirmed both the duration of the deal and Mohamed’s status as the latest arrival in its seven-player summer intake.
