Morocco’s Tarik Sektioui appointed national team head coach of Oman

Moroccan coach Tarik Sektioui has officially been unveiled as the new head coach of the Oman national team.

The appointment marks a significant step in his managerial career following an impressive spell with Morocco’s national sides.

The appointment comes just a day after Sektioui tendered his resignation to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, bringing an end to a highly successful period on home soil.

His move to Oman represents his first opportunity to lead a senior national team outside Morocco, opening a new chapter in his coaching journey.

He takes over from Carlos Queiroz, whose tenure with Oman ended by mutual agreement with the Oman Football Association.

The decision followed a disappointing run that culminated in the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sektioui arrives with a growing reputation, having built an impressive résumé over the past 18 months with Morocco’s local and Olympic teams.

His achievements include guiding the nation to a historic bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, securing victory at the African Nations Championship 2024, and lifting the FIFA Arab Cup 2025.

Those accomplishments have reinforced his standing as a coach capable of delivering results on the big stage.

His career has also been defined by a unique milestone, having won a continental title both as a player and as a coach after previously triumphing at the U20 AFCON in 1997.
