AF Elbasani bring in Senegal teenager Cheikh Gueye on free transfer

Senegalese centre-back Cheikh Gueye has joined AF Elbasani from Pikine on a free transfer, completing his move to Albania’s Kategoria Superiore on 25 August 2026.

The 17-year-old defender has signed a contract with Elbasani until 30 June 2029. Gueye, who was born on 20 October 2008, joins the Albanian club after making six Ligue 1 appearances for Pikine during the 2025-26 season, playing 540 minutes.

Gueye is a left-footed central defender and stands 1.87m tall. His arrival gives Elbasani a young option in the centre of their defence as they build their squad for the new campaign.

The move marks Gueye’s first transfer outside Senegal. He joined Pikine from AS Pikine Under-20s on 29 October 2025, before making the step up to senior football and featuring in the Ligue 1 competition.

Gueye’s switch to Elbasani also represents a change of footballing environment, moving from Senegal’s domestic league to Albania. The defender now begins a three-year spell with the club, with his contract running through the end of June 2029.

His six league appearances for Pikine came during his first season in senior football. Gueye made the move to Elbasani without a transfer fee, with the deal formally completed on 25 August.

The transfer adds a Senegalese defender to AF Elbasani’s squad and provides Gueye with his first opportunity to continue his career abroad. Cheikh Gueye is now an AF Elbasani player on a free transfer until 2029.
