Morocco goalkeeper Mourad Abdelwadie brings fresh strength to Asante Kotoko

Morocco goalkeeper Mourad Abdelwadie has joined Ghanaian Premier League club Asante Kotoko from Basania FC on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old, who stands at 1.93m, completed the move on 25 August 2026 after a short spell in Albania. He becomes part of Asante Kotoko’s squad following a series of club changes since the start of the 2025-26 season.

Abdelwadie joined Basania from Fath Casablanca in January 2026, also on a free transfer. His move to the Albanian club came after he had begun that campaign with SCC Mohammedia, where he arrived without a fee in September 2025.

The goalkeeper started his senior progression with SCCM Reserve after coming through SCCM Youth. He moved into SCC Mohammedia’s first-team structure in July 2024, before leaving Morocco for Fath Casablanca a year later.

Abdelwadie’s arrival gives Asante Kotoko another goalkeeper with experience of moving between clubs in Morocco and Albania. His latest switch also represents a move into Ghana’s top-flight football, with the player joining the club at the age of 22.

The Moroccan has now changed clubs three times since July 2025, completing each of his last three moves without a transfer fee. His latest transfer to Asante Kotoko was completed on 25 August.
