NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac sign Ethiopian-Spanish winger Anwar Mediero
Ethiopian-Spanish winger Anwar Mediero has joined NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac after leaving the player market without a club. The 24-year-old left-sided attacker completed the move on 25 August 2026.
Mediero, who was born in Addis Ababa, operates primarily as a left winger and is right-footed. He arrives in Croatia after spending the period since January 2025 without a club, having previously played for UD Santa Marta.
His most recent recorded club spell came with UD Santa Marta, whom he joined from UD Ourense in November 2024. Before that move, he had played for Lugo Polvorin, joining the Spanish club from Fursan Hispania in July 2023.
Mediero’s earlier career included spells in the youth systems of Barcelona and Celta Vigo, before he moved into Italian football. He joined Atalanta’s under-19 side from Barcelona’s under-18 team in September 2020, in a move recorded with a €25,000 fee.
The winger subsequently spent time with Verona’s under-19s in a loan move during the 2021-22 season before returning to Atalanta. He later left the Italian club for Fursan Hispania in September 2022.
During his time in the Primavera 1 competition, Mediero made 24 appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. He also featured twice in the Primavera Fase Finale, registering another assist. His youth career in Italy included winning the Italian Supercoppa at Primavera level with Atalanta in the 2020-21 season.
Mediero has also made one appearance in the UAE President’s Cup and one at under-18 level, although most of his recorded competitive involvement came in youth football in Italy.
He now joins a Croatian club as a versatile attacking player with experience across academy football in Spain and Italy, as well as senior-level spells in Spain and the United Arab Emirates. NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac have completed the signing of Mediero, who became part of the club’s squad on 25 August 2026.
