Fenerbahçe make move for Mali youth international Ibrahim Diakité
Fenerbahçe SK have made an offer to sign promising Malian youth international Ibrahim Diakité, as the versatile midfielder edges closer to securing his first professional contract.
According to information reported, the Istanbul-based club has submitted a proposal worth around €500,000 in an effort to convince the player and his representatives to agree to a deal.
The Turkish side, currently competing near the top of the Süper Lig, is believed to be keen to finalise the transfer in the coming days.
Their offer reportedly includes a five-year contract as well as a 15% sell-on clause, an arrangement aimed at strengthening their position in the race for the young midfielder.
Diakité, who developed at the well-known JMG Academy, has attracted the attention of several European clubs following his recent performances.
Breakthrough performances on the international stage
The young Malian midfielder came to wider prominence during the 2025 Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, where he represented Mali national under‑17 football team.
During the tournament, Diakité delivered a series of performances that drew the attention of scouts and recruiters from a number of prominent clubs across Europe.
Praised for his ability to operate in multiple midfield roles, the teenager has also been recognised for his technical skill and his ability to combine physical intensity with control on the ball.
Within the Mali youth set-up, where he plays under coach Adama Djefla Diallo, Diakité has increasingly been viewed as one of the team’s most promising players.https:
European clubs monitoring the situation
Fenerbahçe are not the only club following the midfielder’s progress.
Several teams across Europe are reportedly attempting to secure his signature once he reaches full professional status.
Among the clubs said to be monitoring the situation are Red Bull Salzburg, Olympique de Marseille, AS Monaco, LOSC Lille, and RSC Anderlecht.
Their interest highlights the growing reputation of players emerging from Malian training centres, which have produced a number of footballers who have gone on to establish themselves in European leagues.
For now, Fenerbahçe appear to have taken the initiative with a concrete proposal, as they attempt to secure the services of one of Mali’s most highly regarded young prospects.
