Ghana midfielder Forson Amankwah nets late winner as Norwich City fight back to beat Sheffield United
Ghana international Forson Amankwah made a decisive impact on Wednesday night, scoring the winning goal as Norwich City rallied from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the English Championship.
The promising midfielder began the match on the bench but was introduced in the 81st minute as a substitute for Ali Ahmed. Amankwah needed little time to make his presence felt, delivering the decisive moment just three minutes after coming onto the pitch.
After receiving a pass from Paris Maghoma, the Ghanaian midfielder struck confidently to beat the Sheffield United goalkeeper and seal the comeback for Norwich City, ensuring the hosts walked away with all three points after a hard-fought encounter.
Sheffield United had taken the lead earlier in the contest when Jairo Riedewald opened the scoring in the 21st minute. The goal came after he was set up by Callum O’Hare, giving the visitors an early advantage.
Norwich City eventually found their way back into the match in the 68th minute when Jack Stacey levelled the score. The defender capitalised on an assist from Jacob Wright to bring the Canaries back on level terms and set the stage for a dramatic finish.
Amankwah’s late strike ultimately proved decisive and has helped Norwich City climb to 15th place in the English Championship standings.
Having recently returned to full fitness, the midfielder will be aiming to maintain strong performances in the coming months as he pushes for a place in Ghana’s Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
