Lyon linked with move for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Farès Chaïbi

Olympique Lyonnais are being linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Farès Chaïbi, with the 23‑year‑old’s future in Germany increasingly the subject of transfer speculation.

Chaïbi, valued at €15.00m on Transfermarkt, has no publicly listed contract end date with Frankfurt, prompting talk that the French club could explore a deal that positions them strongly should he run down his current terms or push for a move, rather than risk him edging towards free‑agent status in the longer term. The probability of a transfer has not been specified, with reports only marking it as “?” at this stage.

Born in Lyon on 28 November 2002, Chaïbi’s possible return to his home city would mark a full circle in a career that started in the youth ranks at FC Lyon before he moved to Toulouse’s academy in 2019. He progressed through Toulouse FC U19 and Toulouse FC B, earning promotion to the first team in 2022‑23 and subsequently securing a move to the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt on 30 August 2023.

The Algeria and France dual national, who prefers his right foot and operates primarily as an attacking midfielder, has seen his market value rise sharply since breaking into senior football – from €50,000 at Toulouse FC B in June 2022 to peaks of €18m with Frankfurt in 2024, before settling back at €15m by late 2025 and early 2026.

Chaïbi has featured regularly for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and European competition, including a recent outing in a narrow league defeat against a top‑half Bundesliga opponent earlier this year, where he started in the No 10 role and was involved in several of his side’s best attacking moments despite the loss.

If Lyon decide to firm up their interest, a move back to Ligue 1 could offer Chaïbi a platform to relaunch his trajectory and shape the next phase of his career in a league and city he already knows well.
