Togo FA secures French tactician Patrice Neveu on three-year deal
The Togolese Football Federation have officially appointed veteran French tactician Patrice Neveu as their new head coach.
Neveu signed a three-year contract that will see him lead the Sparrow Hawks until 2029. His unveiling took place on Monday, March 2, 2026, marking the beginning of what the federation hopes will be a transformative era for Togolese football.
The 71-year-old’s arrival signals a fresh chapter for the national team, with a clear mandate to rebuild and assemble a competitive side capable of meeting the expectations of supporters while proudly flying the nation’s colours in upcoming continental and international competitions.
The domestic football governing is banking on Neveu’s vast experience and deep knowledge of African football to drive meaningful progress. Having worked extensively across the continent, the seasoned coach is widely regarded as a pragmatic manager with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics of African national teams.
Togo have endured a difficult spell in recent years, struggling to secure qualification for major tournaments. With Neveu now at the helm, the federation will be hoping to reverse that trend and restore the Sparrow Hawks to the continental stage.
Neveu’s résumé played a decisive role in his appointment. Over the course of his career, he has managed several African national teams, including Gabon national football team, Niger national football team, Guinea national football team, DR Congo national football team and Mauritania national football team. Across these assignments, he built a reputation as a disciplined and methodical coach capable of stabilizing and structuring developing teams.
Now entrusted with guiding Togo into a new era, Neveu faces the challenge of turning potential into tangible results, and reigniting belief among a fan base eager for a return to the big stage.
