Chido Obi loan move likely after standout Manchester United youth season
Chido Obi may be heading out on loan this summer after a hugely impressive year across Manchester United’s youth teams.
The teenage forward has not yet broken into the first team, but the club do not view that as a setback in his development.
Instead, United staff are pleased with how he has handled jumping between the Under-18s and Under-21s. According to the Daily Mail, the youngster is “benefitting immensely” from that dual role, sharpening his game against different levels of opposition.
He has become a central figure for both sides and could finish the campaign with up to four trophies, splitting potential silverware between the two age groups.
In January, United chose not to entertain loan offers for the Danish prospect, believing he was better served staying close to Carrington and dominating youth football. That decision is now seen as justified, but a temporary move in the summer is considered far more likely.
A well-chosen loan could give Obi his first consistent taste of senior football and act as the next key step before he competes seriously for minutes in Michael Carrick’s first-team squad.
