Adama Traore joins Deportivo La Coruna and reunites with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Adama Traore has joined Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruna on a free transfer, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The Spain international is returning to his home country after leaving Spain in 2022, when he spent a short loan spell with his former club FC Barcelona. His move to Deportivo will also see him link up again with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was his team-mate at Barcelona.

Traore’s arrival at Deportivo follows the end of his brief spell with West Ham United. The London club decided against extending his contract after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, when they were relegated to the English Championship.

The 30-year-old joined West Ham United during the most recent winter transfer window from Fulham. He signed a short-term deal running until the end of the season after falling down the pecking order at his previous club.

His time at West Ham United did not produce a significant individual impact. Traore made 10 appearances in the Premier League, scoring no goals while providing two assists.

The move to Deportivo represents a return to Spanish football for Traore, who began his senior career in the country before moving abroad in 2022. He will now continue his career with a club preparing for its latest campaign in the Spanish league.

Deportivo began the season with two draws and are preparing to face Valencia in their next fixture. Traore’s signing gives the club an experienced Spain international as they continue their campaign.

A reunion with Aubameyang will add another familiar connection for Traore. The pair previously played together at Barcelona, and they will now share the dressing room again at Deportivo.

Traore’s contract with the Spanish club runs through June 2028, offering him the opportunity to establish himself in Spain again after a short stay in England. His move was completed without a transfer fee after West Ham United opted not to renew his agreement following their relegation.
