CAF Champions League: CAF to sit on AS FAR’s petition against Al Ahly over violence on Thursday
The CAF Champions League clash between Al-Ahly and Morocco’s AS FAR has come under scrutiny following disruptions during the match, according to foreign media reports.
Supporters of Al-Ahly reportedly threw multiple water bottles onto the pitch, forcing the game to be halted several times.
In response, the Moroccan club lodged an official complaint over the incidents.
Reports in Morocco suggest that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to hear the Royal Army’s case within the next 24 hours.
The hearing, scheduled for Thursday, will allow CAF to review the events at Cairo Stadium before issuing any decisions.
The Group B finale ended in a 0-0 draw, confirming Al-Ahly as group leaders and the Royal Army as runners-up.
This sets up quarter-final clashes with Al-Ahly facing Tunisia’s Espérance and the Royal Army taking on Pyramids FC.
