Canadian-Nigerian forward Promise David becomes Belgian hot prospect

Promise David is emerging as one of Europe’s most sought-after young forwards after a breakthrough season with Union Saint-Gilloise, attracting attention from clubs including West Ham United, Napoli, and Galatasaray.

Since arriving in Belgium in the summer of 2024, the Canadian-Nigerian striker has made a significant impact, scoring 15 goals this season and becoming a central figure for the Jupiler Pro League side.

His performances have prompted multiple European clubs to monitor his progress closely, according to reports from Ekrem Konur.

Union Saint-Gilloise has recognised David’s potential and extended his contract until 2029, signalling their intent to retain the player or command a significant fee for his departure.

During the winter transfer window, the club reportedly rejected an €8 million offer from Beşiktaş JK and are now expecting a transfer fee in the region of €15 million to €25 million for their prized forward.

David’s rise has been notable for its unconventional trajectory. The Ontario native passed through smaller leagues in Malta and Estonia before establishing himself in Belgium, demonstrating adaptability and consistent goal-scoring ability along the way.

On Transfermarkt, he is currently valued at €13 million, reflecting both his current form and potential for further growth.

In domestic competition, David has already scored nine goals in 23 league appearances, underlining his effectiveness in front of goal and his growing influence on the pitch.

His blend of physicality, finishing ability, and versatility has made him a target for clubs seeking a dynamic attacking option.

With his contract secured and a series of top European clubs showing interest, Promise David’s next move could mark a major step in his career and potentially set a new transfer record for Union Saint-Gilloise.
