Hamburger SV striker Patson Daka has taken another step towards returning from injury after rejoining his teammates for the collective warm-up during Tuesday’s training session.
The 28-year-old forward has been sidelined by a muscle tear in his left thigh, which he sustained while on international duty with Zambia. The injury forced him to miss Hamburg’s recent Bundesliga victories over TSG Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart.
According to the Hamburger Morgenpost, Daka participated in the initial warm-up alongside his teammates as HSV began preparations for Saturday’s away fixture against SC Paderborn 07.
His involvement represents encouraging progress after he previously worked individually on the training pitch while recovering from the injury.
However, Daka’s participation in the warm-up does not yet indicate a full return to team training. The striker will need to increase his workload gradually before he can be considered for competitive action.
Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin will continue monitoring the forward’s progress as the club prepares for a demanding period of fixtures.
Daka’s return would provide HSV with another attacking option, particularly after his absence left the team without one of its recognised forwards.
For now, the club will remain cautious as the Zambian international works towards regaining full fitness. His availability for the match against Paderborn will depend on how he responds to the next stages of his rehabilitation.
