Justin Njinmah returns to partial Werder Bremen training ahead of Mainz clash

Justin Njinmah has taken another important step towards his comeback after returning to partial team training with Werder Bremen on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old forward joined his teammates for portions of the session as head coach Daniel Thioune’s side began preparations for Saturday’s Bundesliga away fixture against Mainz 05.

According to Werder Bremen’s official personnel update, Njinmah participated in parts of the team training for the first time since suffering a serious thigh muscle injury. His return offers encouragement, although it remains unclear whether he will be available for the weekend’s match.

Njinmah has been working towards regaining full fitness after the injury disrupted his involvement in the early stages of the campaign. His gradual reintegration into team training represents a positive development as Bremen prepare for a demanding run of fixtures.

However, the forward must increase his workload progressively before he can be considered ready for competitive action. The coaching staff will assess his response to training over the coming days before deciding whether he can return to the matchday squad.

Njinmah’s return would provide Bremen with another attacking option, but the club is unlikely to rush the striker back before he has recovered sufficiently.

Werder travel to Mainz on Saturday, October 24, with kick-off scheduled for 15:30 local time. Whether Njinmah features will depend on his progress during the remainder of the week.
