CR Belouizdad confirmed first place in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 2-1 victory against AS Otoho on the final day of the group stage.
Already assured of a quarter-final place before kick-off, the Algerian side still produced a strong performance to finish the phase with 15 points, while their opponents advanced in second position on nine points.
CR Belouizdad controlled the opening period and were rewarded early when Abdennour Belhocini put them ahead in the 14th minute.
The hosts continued to dictate the tempo and doubled their advantage shortly before the interval as Farid El Mellali finished off another attacking move in the 41st minute.
The two-goal lead reflected their dominance before the break, with AS Otoho struggling to impose themselves in midfield and offering little threat going forward.
After the restart, the visitors improved and began to push higher up the pitch.
Their persistence paid off in the 68th minute when Bandiougou Diallo reduced the deficit, giving the contest a more competitive feel during the closing stages.
Despite late pressure, no further goals followed before the final whistle, leaving CR Belouizdad to close the group campaign with another victory.
The result ensured the Algerian club ended the group stage as leaders of Group C, while AS Otoho held on to second place and also progressed to the last eight.
Both sides now move on to the quarter-finals with hopes of extending their continental run.
