The draw for the quarter-finals of the 2025–26 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place next Tuesday, following the conclusion of the group stages on Sunday evening.
African football’s two flagship club competitions reach a decisive stage this week, with the final group matches set to determine the remaining qualifiers before attention shifts to the knockout draw.
Several heavyweights have already secured their places in the last eight, including four Egyptian clubs. Defending continental champions Al Ahly and Pyramids FC progressed in the Champions League, while Zamalek and Al Masry booked their quarter-final berths in the Confederation Cup.
The Champions League quarter-finals will also feature strong North African representation beyond Egypt.
Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane, Sudan’s Al Hilal and Tunisia’s Esperance are among those to have advanced. However, Morocco’s Royal Army remain in contention and must await the outcome of their final group match against Al Ahly to confirm qualification.
In the Confederation Cup, Algerian clubs USM Alger and CR Belouizdad have secured places in the knockout stage, alongside Morocco’s Olympique Safi. Wydad Casablanca’s qualification remains dependent on their final group result.
The upcoming draw will determine the quarter-final pairings and potentially set up high-profile encounters between some of the continent’s most decorated sides. It also marks the beginning of the knockout phase, where the two-legged ties will intensify the battle for continental supremacy.
Both competitions have delivered compelling group-stage narratives, with traditional powerhouses facing renewed challenges from emerging clubs across North, East and Sub-Saharan Africa.
CAF is expected to confirm further details regarding the draw format, including seeding arrangements and match dates, in the coming days.
With group ambitions either realised or shattered by Sunday night, all eyes will turn to Tuesday’s ceremony — a pivotal moment that will shape the path to continental glory.
