CR Belouizdad have confirmed that Abderrahmane Meziane remains under contract and has been provisionally suspended, ending days of speculation about the player’s status at the Algerian club.
In an official statement released on Friday evening, the club moved to clarify Meziane’s situation and dismiss talk of an imminent contract termination.
The statement stressed that “the player Abderrahmane Meziane remains bound by a valid contract with the team ,” underlining that his formal ties to the club are unchanged.
Club officials also addressed the attacker’s recent absence from training sessions and away fixtures.
According to the statement, “his absence from recent training sessions and away games is due to internal disciplinary and organizational reasons.”
The wording suggests the matter is being handled internally, with the club focused on preserving order and cohesion during a sensitive period.
CR Belouizdad added that discussions have already taken place with the player regarding what comes next. The statement revealed that “a meeting was held with the player to discuss his future ,” but indicated that the proposals put forward so far were not sufficient.
It said the offers received “did not meet the club’s expectations in terms of sporting performance and finances ,” pointing to both competitive and financial considerations in the club’s decision-making.
As a result, the club confirmed a temporary sanction while the case is formally assessed.
The statement concluded by announcing “the player’s provisional suspension from training pending the review of his case by the disciplinary committee ,” signalling that a final decision will follow an internal review process.
Despite the disciplinary step, the club emphasised that its position is not closed. It reiterated that it remains “open to considering any serious offer,” leaving the door ajar for a potential resolution that satisfies both sporting ambitions and financial requirements.
The announcement provides the clearest picture yet of Meziane’s standing, framing the issue as a contractual and disciplinary matter being managed within the club’s structures.
For now, his future will depend on the outcome of the disciplinary review and whether a suitable proposal emerges.
