Bayelsa United have confirmed the signing and promotion of six players as they prepare for the decisive stage of the Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Yenagoa-based side moved in the transfer market to address weaknesses identified by the coaching staff, aiming to strengthen the squad ahead of the second half of the 2025/2026 campaign.
With the competition entering a crucial period, the club’s management opted for multiple additions rather than minor adjustments.
Under coach Meremu Okara, the “Restoration Boys” are seeking to remain competitive during the closing stretch of the season.
The technical team believes both ends of the table remain open possibilities, making reinforcement a priority at this stage.
The recruitment drive focused primarily on attacking options.
According to Okara, as reported by Complete Sports, the forward line required new energy and finishing ability to better exploit opportunities during matches.
The club responded by bringing in several offensive-minded players.
Two recruits arrive from Calabar Rovers — Ettah Ekoi and Okim Divine Okim — while additional signings include Otunuya Kennedy from Godswill Akpabio United, Nasidi Abdulrasak Danladi from Kebbi FC, and Stephen Ikechi Wisdom from Akwa United.
The approach was not limited to attacking additions alone. Okara explained that the squad needed balance, and the new arrivals also include an attacking midfielder and a defender to improve overall coverage across the pitch.
Alongside the external signings, Bayelsa United have promoted Kenus Godswill from the club’s feeder team to the senior squad for the remainder of the season.
The internal promotion forms part of the club’s youth development pathway and completes the list of six reinforcements.
The club hopes the strengthened squad will provide renewed momentum in the coming fixtures as the league season moves towards its final phase, with every result likely to carry increased significance.
