U.S. Lecce are reportedly preparing to extend the contract of Zambian winger Lameck Banda following his growing influence on the club’s season.
The Italian side are keen to reward the forward’s consistent performances as his current deal approaches its expiration.
Banda underlined his importance once again with a dramatic late free-kick that sealed a 2-1 victory over Udinese, a goal that proved decisive at a crucial point in the campaign.
The strike served as further confirmation of his impact on Eusebio Di Francesco’s team, particularly in tight and demanding matches.
Since arriving in the summer of 2022 from Maccabi Petah Tikva, after spells in Russia and Israel, Banda has established himself as a key figure for the Salento-based club. His pace, directness and ability to influence games have made him a regular presence in Lecce’s setup.
Although his current contract runs until June, Tuttomercatoweb reports that Lecce are ready to activate an option to extend the deal.
Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has already turned down multiple approaches for the Zambian international, stressing his determination to preserve a squad that has steadily developed over time.
More than just a moment of brilliance, Banda’s winner against Udinese highlighted his knack for delivering when it matters most. For Lecce, securing his future now appears a priority as they look to build on the progress made this season.
