Raja Casablanca supporters directed their anger at the players and technical staff, led by head coach Fadlo Davies, following Sunday’s defeat to Meknes in the 11th round of the Botola Pro.
After the final whistle, Raja players were met with heavy criticism from the stands, with insults and bottles thrown in protest of both the result and what fans described as an incomprehensible and unacceptable performance.
Midfielder Adam Nafati bore the brunt of the backlash, as videos circulating on social media showed supporters venting their frustration after he missed a penalty that was brilliantly saved by Meknes goalkeeper Reda Bounaka.
The wave of criticism also extended to right-back Mohamed Boulksout, whom fans accuse of falling well below his usual standards since returning from the Arab Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia, based on reactions shared by the club’s supporters.
Attention then shifted to midfielder Othman Chraibi and Mouad Dahak, with the former criticised for a sharp decline in form compared to his early appearances, while the latter was targeted for failing to make the expected impact since joining Raja from Ittihad Touarga.
Defender Badr Banoun was also not spared the fans’ anger, with criticism similarly aimed at Saber Bougrine, who faced the same complaints levelled at Boulksout regarding his recent performances.
In the wake of the backlash, Raja’s South African coach, Fadlo Davies, is expected to implement sweeping changes to the starting line-up when the Greens face Yaacoub El Mansour on Friday in the 12th round of the Botola Pro.
