Former Egypt and Zamalek striker Amr Zaki was stopped by security authorities at Cairo International Airport on Friday while trying to travel abroad.

During routine checks, officials discovered that his name was listed among those banned from travel due to a final court ruling issued against him in a mistaken injury case in the city of Alamein. As a result, legal procedures were activated immediately in line with standard protocols applied at Egyptian airports.

Security forces detained Zaki in order to refer him to the competent prosecution, where the ruling against him will be enforced and further investigations completed as required by law. The step reflects the authorities’ emphasis on implementing judicial decisions and ensuring that no person with an active court judgment leaves the country before resolving their legal status.

According to Kooora, security sources indicated that the incident falls within normal airport procedures, which include checking travelers’ names against databases of individuals wanted or restricted from travel.

Such measures are designed to uphold court orders and maintain the integrity of the legal system, regardless of a person’s fame or previous sporting achievements.
