Abdallah Sima scored twice to lead RC Lens into the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, producing a decisive display in the round-of-16 tie.
The Senegalese international struck shortly after half-time, finding the net in the 50th and 58th minutes to give Lens control of a high-scoring contest.
His goals extended Lens’ advantage to 4-1 and proved pivotal in a match played at an intense tempo.
Lens had already shown attacking intent before the break, but it was after the restart that the game turned firmly in their favour.
Sima’s first goal of the evening demonstrated composure in front of goal, allowing Lens to seize momentum early in the second half. Eight minutes later, he struck again to underline his influence on the outcome.
Between Sima’s two goals, Bulatovic briefly responded for the opposition in the 52nd minute, reducing the deficit to 3-1.
However, Sima’s second strike quickly restored Lens’ commanding lead, highlighting his sharp movement and clinical finishing.
Despite Lens later conceding to make the score 4-2, the Senegalese forward’s contribution had already shaped the tie.
Sima was substituted in the 62nd minute to warm applause from the stands, making way for new signing Allan Saint-Maximin.
His departure marked a symbolic end to an outstanding individual performance.
The display further confirmed Sima’s growing importance within the Lens system, particularly in cup competition.
His ability to influence decisive moments has been evident throughout the campaign, and his latest contribution brings Lens a step closer to silverware.
Across all competitions this season, Sima now has four goals and one assist in 13 appearances.
Notably, three of those goals have come in just two Coupe de France matches, underlining his impact in knockout football.
As Lens look ahead to the quarter-finals, Sima’s form offers encouragement, with the Senegalese forward continuing to deliver when the stakes are highest.
